Corporate R&D Facilities
The Harold Jarvis Technology Centre is a
first-class facility for carrying out experimental research
and development. Located in Toronto, Ontario it contains purpose-built
laboratories and is equipped with sophisticated instruments,
testing and pilot equipment. It is named in honour of Harold
F. Jarvis, who was Vice President of Engineering at ShawCor
for 46 years and who made an invaluable contribution to both
the development of ShawCor's technology base and to the generation
of its innovative culture
History of Innovation at ShawCor
Much of ShawCor's success can be attributed
to a dedication to the development and application of innovative
technologies. Advances in material formulations, manufacturing
processes and product designs have led to the creation of
new or improved products and services to better serve customer
needs. These on-going advances have helped to maintain ShawCor
at the forefront of its served markets. This history of innovation
at ShawCor can be attributed to the creation of a culture
and structure that supports creativity and imaginative problem
solving.
ShawCor's Key Technology Platforms
While ShawCor has many different businesses,
there are several Technology Platforms that are shared by
two or more of them. These shared platforms help to leverage
the value of investments made in R&D in those areas of
expertise. Time and money spent on improving these technology
platforms provide benefits across a much greater sales base,
allowing a higher level of R&D investment than any one
unit could support on its own.
Anti-Corrosion Coatings
One of the key technology platforms, that
has been instrumental in the success of ShawCor, is anti-corrosion
coatings. This technology supports Bredero Shaw, where it
is used to develop new corrosion protection solutions for
the pipeline industry worldwide.
Pipe Coating
Pipe coating was the technology platform
on which ShawCor was originally founded. Today, customers'
mainline pipe coating needs are serviced by the Bredero Shaw
division.

ShawCor personnel have experience with a
